Chrysler Group sales shot up last month (November 2013) with a 16 percent increase versus last year's numbers. This achievement represents the 44th month in a row that the automaker has seen sales gains, as well as the best November sales numbers since the year 2007.
One of Chrysler's big sellers was the new Dodge Durango, which has been highlighted recently in several advertisements featuring movie character Ron Burgundy from Anchorman. The secondAnchorman movie hits box offices this month.
Another big seller last month was the new Jeep Cherokee, which has its first full month of sales. It seems that drivers are really taking to the Cherokee's unique look, which includes a new take on the brand's iconic seven-slot grille.
Many Chrysler Group dealerships also benefited from the excitement surrounding Black Friday deals. As Dave Winslow, chief digital strategist at Dealer.com, tells Bloomberg, "Dealers were seeing the opportunity to piggyback on this shopping phenomenon. When you compound that with the high inventory levels, it’s a good opportunity for them to really reduce those in the final few weeks of the year."1
